Throughout 1999, this introductory course to swine immunology was published on a monthly basis in Spanish on the websites www.3tres3.com and www.sanidadanimal.info. Since then this has been a much-consulted work, particularly in Spain, Latin America and the USA. The great success of the course amongst students and veterinary professionals from several countries motivated us to translate the course into English in 2000 and Italian in 2001. In that same year, the first edition of the course was published on CD ROM thanks to sponsorship from Laboratorios Hipra.

We would now like to present the 2004 revised edition. In this edition, we have updated certain concepts and have aimed to improve understanding of certain sections. I would like to thank our readers for their help in improving this course, and encourage you all to continue sending your observations and comments to be included in future editions.
